Hello everyone!!!
We are 5 months into the new year, and my birthday is next month, which i am so excited about. I am hoping to go to the lake in Coeur D’ Alene and spend time with friends. Of course, I’ll have chocolate cake to celebrate the day. I have also been working two jobs, so that has been taking up so much of my time. I always manage to read, so i am taking the time again to post my next book review.
Today i am writing my next book review on Lost Gods by Brom. Okay, so after finishing this book, i can say a few months later, I am still thinking about it. This book centers around Chet, who is freshly out of jail. His wife, who is also pregnant, isn’t happy at home with her protective father, so Chet and his girlfriend escape and end up at his grandma’s house. He hasn’t laid an eye on her for years. The reader then learns that evil lingers in the house, and, as a result, Chet ends up in Purgatory, tasked with saving his wife and their unborn child. He is also tasked with retrieving a lost item belonging to a God, so yes, Chet has a journey he must complete that could wipe him out forever or the lives of those he loves. Lost Gods is a mix of Horror, thriller, and suspense.

In purgatory, we meet so many amazing characters. He comes face-to-face with death, but he also meets a family member who reveals the evil that haunted them and what brought them to Purgatory. Chet will not stop until he’s back above the ground, and he saves the love of his life and the child he prayed to see and raise. I can’t spoil this amazing book. This book will have your jaw on the ground, and i indeed cried my butt off. The world-building, dialogue, and character development are so amazing, and the art is superb. The ending in this book is so good, and i can say the ending is bittersweet with a hint of self-fulfilling prophecy. I felt like i was there with Chet, and i was on the edge of my seat the whole time i was reading it.
So all in all i gave this book 5 stars. This book touches on so much, and i think this is Brom’s best work. The way he writes is so unique, and more people need to know about this man’s work. Brom has me wanting to read more horror now. I did not want this book to end, and i wished there was more. I highly recommend it. If you read this book, let me know what you think in the comments. I plan to do my next review of The Poisoner by I.V. Ophelia. I did read this at the beginning of the year, and as of now, the second book in the series, “Arachnid,” is out on April 14th. I am lucky enough to have the original cover before she changed it.
All thoughts and opinions are of my own, and if you have a book you’re reading or you. If you read anything amazing, let me know in the comments as well. Thank you for reading, and I’ll catch y’all back soon!
