🐼Panda Book Review: Priest by Sierra Simone 🐼

Hi everyone!!

Last week was stressful at best, but i made it through. I had the best weekend with my husband, and we did so much together. We hiked in the park, watched Morbius in the theatre( Jared Leto and Tyrice Gibson were terrific in it.), and today we went out for brunch and walked in Manito Park. All in all, today was a good day!

Today though, i wanted to write my review for Priest as i was excited to post this on my blog. A month ago, i went to Barns and Nobles and saw the cover for Priest by Sierra Simone, and i brushed it off and bought My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh. So two weeks ago, i saw the audiobook on Audible and decided to give it a chance, and I’m glad i did. Priest by Sierra Simone is the first of 3 books of the Bell Brothers series, and it was so intimate, raw, and oh so hot. I decided to listen to the book on audible, and Jacob Morgan and Elaina Wolf narrated it.

The story is about a priest named Tyler Bell, a priest of 26, who has two brothers, and he is the person who brought back the parishioners after the church was in a scandal that left his family shattered. He then meets a woman named Poppy Danforth, and his life is turned upside down. He has a life simple at first, but it gets exciting, enlightening, and stressful. In the Catholic religion, a priest can not marry, have sex, or stray from Christ, among other laws, and Tyler falls head over heels over Poppy and her many solicitous ways, and that’s when things get juicy.

Next, the reader is then introduced to Poppy Danforth. She’s a wealthy and beautiful heiress with an excellent education Career, loves dancing, and is hypersexual and lost when it comes to love and finding the right man. Sierra writes Poppy as this lost woman who has it all, wants independence, and has her flaws. We see her vulnerable when she wants to know about the Catholic religion and gets entangled in her past but grows closer to Tyler. As the reader, we see how close Poppy and Tyler get, and Poppy is a woman who i believe is perfect for him.

”If this what love is, then i didn’t know how anyone could bear the weight of it.”( Simone, 2017.). Tyler then succumbs to the temptation of sex, and he has a battle over keeping his vows and debating his choices of love and wanting to be with Poppy. As you read, we then get a glimpse of the tragedy of what happened in his family and the church, and as the reader, we see how his faith in God helps guide him in his path of being a priest, but he has that battle of wanting Poppy for her body, heart, and soul.

At the end of the story, they get their happy ending. Sierra Simone wrote a rocky love story but the road to true love is never easy for our two main characters. If you want to read this novel, be warned that there is a lot of sex and many inner monologs. I loved how Sierra combines religion and gives her readers an insight into a young man’s struggle to honor his vows, but he strongly wants a woman he shouldn’t have. i cried, laughed, and loved the journey of Poppy and Tyler falling in love and finally getting to where they are towards the book’s ending. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars. That’s entirely due to the Priest not being longer than it was. Jacob Morgan and Elaina Wolf gave Poppy and Tyler life, and their casting was perfect. I am intrigued by Sierra Simone and will read the following two books of her Bell Brother series, and I’m invested now.

Please let me know what you think of my review and this post is open for discussion. Thank you for reading and have a nice week ahead!!
